ACT CONSORTIUM

Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation and Civic Initiatives formed the Consortium for project ACT as there was a great match in values, strong complementarities and a shared understanding of the partnership built on trust. As both organisations are themselves civil society organisations, the Programme cause is directly linked to their own ‘reason d’etre’.

helvetas logo

Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation is an association with a constituency of over 100,000 members in Switzerland. It takes an active role and position in different political debates and advocates on behalf of its constituency in partnership with other likeminded organisations in Switzerland.

Civic Initiatives lead numerous networks (with more than 70% of involvement of local CSOs) on civil society issues and represent its members in advocacy actions. Civic Initiatives are established to provide services to CSOs and continue to be a focal point for capacity building. More than 5,000 CSOs have been involved and more than half of million people reached in last 22 years.

The Consortium is built on a strong partnership, where principles of equality on eye-to-eye level, transparency, trust, mutual learning and capacity building, and strengthening of local organisations are strongly upheld.
