The “Young People Ask” in Varvarin06/02/2023
The “Young People Ask” project, implemented by the Sowers of Happiness organization, is supported by the Swiss government through the “For an Active Civil Society Together – ACT” program. On this occasion, a meeting was held today in the premises of the Youth Club of the Municipality of Varvarin, which was attended by the President of the Municipality of Varvarin with her associates, representatives of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, representatives of ACT and the Sowers of Happiness organization.
On that occasion, Dr. Violeta Lutovac, president of the municipality of Varvarin, addressed the audience and pointed out that the municipality supports the Sower of Happiness organization financially and logistically in their activities. Vesna Miladinović, president of the the Sowers of Happiness, informed the attendees about the activities of the organization within the project, which refer to the recommendations in the Strategy for Youth based on the analysis of the needs of young people in this place. As part of the project, in cooperation with the municipality of Varvarin, a Youth Club was opened, and the ACT project provided furniture for this space where young people gather.
Melina Papageorgiou, the first secretary of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, asked how the Youth Council would function within the local self-government. The president of the municipality pointed out that it is the Parliamentary body and that within this mechanism young people will propose the implementation of policies and programs for young people. The young people said that their main motivation in their work is the visible results, which are the playground, theater performances, seminars and workshops that they achieve within the Sowers of Happiness organization.
Snežana Mišić Mihajlović, the international team leader of the ACT project, pointed out that the ACT project supports civil society organizations, but that the partnership of the civil sector with local self-government is important to us and that we will continue to support such initiatives in the next phase of the project.
Biljana Đusić Radmilović, portfolio manager of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, pointed out that there are numerous projects that the Swiss government supports and that she hopes for continued cooperation. In addition to them, the meeting was also attended by Marija Brajović, assistant to the president of the municipality of Varvarin, Marko Rakić, adviser on the ACT project, Vesna Marković, coordinator of the Sowers of Happiness program activities.
