Women’s association of the Kolubara district – ŽUKO

The women’s association of the Kolubara district was founded in May 2013. The main goal of the association is to strengthen the position of women at the local level. In the period of seven years that the association has been in existence, we have managed to implement a number of projects that have helped in various areas to hear women’s voices and to improve the position of women in the Kolubara District. Exercising influence on LGUs and GOs for the purpose of creating and implementing local policies for gender equality and increasing the political participation of women are two strategic goals of ŽUKO. Contribution to an active civil society for the benefit of all people and increased participation of citizens in an active civil society for the benefit of people and increased participation of citizens in decision-making, especially at the local level. The mobilization and education of women will ensure greater political participation, while the inclusion of councilors in lobbying will lead to the adoption of Local Action Plans for gender equality and reports on their implementation and the adoption process itself.
