Yesterday, Ćićevac became a meeting place for different cultures, educational experiences and perspectives. Okular welcomed female students from Gakushuin University in Tokyo, together with representatives of the JICA Balkan Office and Helvetas from Switzerland. Their visit provided an opportunity to meet, talk and exchange experiences on education, youth work, activism, international cooperation, as well as the everyday lives of young people in Serbia and Japan.
A special part of the meeting was dedicated to Serbia and Japan, their similarities, differences and cultural patterns. The discussion covered everyday life, education, volunteering, youth work, activism and young people’s relationship with their communities. The differences between the two countries prompted questions and discussion, while the many similarities served as a reminder that young people, regardless of where they live, often share the same needs, interests and desire to contribute to the communities they live in.
