Since its establishment, the Media&Reform Center Nis has focused on supporting the work and increasing the visibility of civil society organizations, as well as strengthening media professionalism to report on certain topics contributing to the development of civil society in southern Serbia. MRCN is a non-profit and non-partisan organization with its work and activities primarily for Nis and southern Serbia. In addition to local civil society organizations and the media, MRCN actively cooperates with local self-government, academia and business representatives, all in order to promote citizen participation civil society at the regional level.
Media & Reform Center Nis and the city municipality of Palilula – Nis will implement a project called “Public debates for public affairs and good decisions – building an open administration through building trust and citizen participation.” The project should contribute to improving the capacity of the local community to use public hearings as an instrument of open government to propose, make and control the execution of decisions within the authority and responsibility of the city municipality of Palilula. The total value of the project is RSD 1,941,400.00. The association participated with 23% of the funds, while the participation of local self-government is 10% in the total project budget.
