The Center for Local Democracy LDA Knjaževac

The Center for Local Democracy LDA Knjaževac is a non-profit association of citizens formed in 2001 at the initiative of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe with the aim of supporting the development of local democratic processes and promoting human rights and active citizenship in central and southern Serbia. The headquarters of the association was in Nis until April 2014, when the association, expanding its program, moved its main office to Knjaževac. The mission of the association is to support the democratic, social, economic and cultural development of the local communities in which it works through informal education of social actors, informing, networking and promoting the principles of active citizenship.

In line with the mission, the LDA carries out two types of activities:

1. Activities at the local level that encourage cross-sectoral cooperation of social actors and participation of citizens in the life of the local community;
2. Activities at the international level that encourage decentralized cooperation between local governments and associations from Serbia and Europe.

ACT project supported the association for the project “From the Youth Corner to the Youth Center”. within the grant scheme “Local Advocacy Grants”.
